Cambridge Mobile Opticians - Opticall Eyecare

Opticall are your local, travelling opticians who are an independent practice. We provide a completely mobile home-visiting optician’s service for those who cannot make it to their high street opticians (such as Asda Opticians, Boots Opticians, Vision Express and Specsavers) due to old age or poor health.

Do opticians make house calls?

We can come and visit you in the comfort of your home/care home and carry out a FREE comprehensive NHS sight test and eye health check at a mutually convenient day and appointment time. If you need glasses, following your domiciliary sight test, then you can choose some from our wide range of glasses and lenses, all competitively priced. Once ordered, we will come back within 2 weeks and personally hand deliver and and fit your new pair of glasses and provide you with a personalised eye care chart.

Rest assured if we detect any eye-related conditions that need treatment we can refer you to the local ophthalmic services so you can go to hospital for treatment. We hope this offers you peace of mind that we are a professional service.

We also offer FREE aftercare which is an excellent service for when there are issues with your glasses and they may need repairing or replacing.

Are eye tests free for over 60s?

There are a number of criteria that make you eligible for a FREE eye test with us, and being over 60 is one of them. If you have a medical condition such as diabetes or eye condition such as glaucoma (or at risk of contracting this) then you would also be eligible. Also if you receive benefits (income support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or pension credit guarantee credit)

To find out what criteria you need to meet please check out our eligibility web page here: https://opticalleyecare.co.uk/eligibility/. You can also find out if you can receive help towards the cost of prescription glasses on this web page too, for example if you receive income support or pension credit for example.
